Adoption protocols
Sonoma County Animal Services is pleased to announce that protocols are in place to resume adoptions. Check out our instructions and protocols below for meeting your next companion. Please note: adoptions are by appointment only; we are closed for walk-ins.
To provide one of our adoptable pets with a forever home, please review the following:
- To find a companion that might be right for you, view our adoptable pets, read the information displayed, and view the photos or videos.
- When you have found one or two animals that interest you, complete our online adoption application.
- Submit the application with the required uploads.
- We use Google Forms for our adoption application, which requires a Google account. If you don’t have a Google account, you can use the following: Login/Email: SCASGuest@gmail.com; Password: Adopt!ons20
- Fill in all the required information; incomplete applications may not be reviewed.
- We are not accepting paper applications at this time.
- Applications received for strays that are not ready for adoption will not be reviewed or kept on file. Make sure the animal you are interested in is available for adoption before applying.
- Once your application has been received, it will be reviewed. Applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis. We will contact you by phone or email to let you know if your request has been approved, declined and/or if we have any additional questions.
- If your request is approved, we will schedule an appointment within 72 hours (depending on availability) for you to meet the animal via Zoom.
- If you are still interested in the animal after the virtual introduction, we will schedule another appointment for you to meet the animal at our facility.
- Instructions will be emailed – please read carefully.
- Before entering our establishment, there will be a COVID-19 screening.
- Masks and social distancing protocols are required at our facility.
- Our adoption processes will take place outdoors and restrooms are not accessible to the public – please plan accordingly.
- If the face-to-face meeting goes well and you decide to adopt, please provide payment by credit card or check.
