CINNAMINSON, NJ — Cinnaminson’s Doggie Style Pets store began offering dog adoptions on Sunday, the company’s president and CEO told Patch last week.
“We are moving forward with adoptions at the store next week,” Howard Nelson, president and CEO, said in an email Thursday. “We have our kennel license and are ready to use our endowment and adoption rooms.”
For the past eight weeks, Doggie Style Pets has sought and received approval from the zoning board and the township board of health before offering dogs for adoption, he said.
Doggie Style Pets was already operating as a pet supply store prior to zoning board and health board approvals.
Residents who live next to or near the Doggie Style store in Philadelphia — which also offers dogs for adoption — have never complained about the company, Nelson said.
“We’ve never had a problem with any of the neighbors, including those who lived in apartments above our store in the city,” he told a Cinnaminson zoning board meeting. April 13.
Potential adopters must meet several criteria before they can adopt a dog from Doggie Style Pets, Nelson said at the meeting.
Criteria include the potential adopter having a medical history free of serious illnesses, receiving positive feedback from references, living in a residence appropriate for the size of the dog, and having a public record free of any animal red flags, according to in Nelson.
While awaiting adoption, the dogs stay in a room in the store that meets their needs, he said. A dog that is not adopted at the Cinnaminson store within 30 days of arrival will be taken to the Doggie Style Pets store in Philadelphia or a local kennel for additional adoption opportunities, he said.
In addition to operating a pet supply store and dog adoption center, Doggie Style Pets also sponsors local dog parks and supports animal rescue events, the company said on its website. . The company has also donated medical equipment and made financial contributions to various animal organizations, the website says.
Doggie Style Pets is at The Shoppes at Cinnaminson, 141 US Highway 130 S. Store hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
