Megan Sienkiewicz, medical coordinator for Friends Forever Animal Rescue, was browsing a Facebook animal repatriation group when she saw this heartbreaking photo of Clara. Clara was rescued from a life of starvation and neglect and looked like a skeleton. “A woman was literally begging for a new home for a dog and I saw a photo of a very emaciated and wet dog,” Sienkiewicz said.
“I was looking for the house and saw a woman in a camping chair holding a dog and it didn’t even look like a dog,” Sienkiewicz said. Sienkiewicz noticed Clara moaning and struggling to walk properly on her own. The poor girl had flat feet and sores all over after being stuck in a crate in her abusive former home. After her health evaluation, she finally arrived in her loving new foster home.
“Even though she groomed me and I saw a photo, seeing Clara in person was very shocking,” said animal foster parent Kelly Reilley.
Just days after arriving in her foster family, Clara was already walking alone and opening up to her new mom. Clara is still on the road to recovery, but this lifesaving transformation was made possible by the incredible care of Clara’s foster family.
“We want to thank everyone who has been so invested in Clara. We want to announce that those responsible for the negligence and cruelty that led to Clara’s horrendous condition have been arrested and charged with torturing/injuring and not fed an animal. We somehow feel that justice has been served even though our animal rights laws are incredibly lenient. The real victory is how Clara navigated her way into a new chapter of life,” Friends Forever Animal Rescue said in a Facebook post.
